One thing I picked up from this interview is that people like Mike and the DA tend to be alarmist when their political preferences don’t win the day. When you are in government you have to balance the social and the economic interests of the country. The narrative that South Africa is not attractive to foreign investors is not entirely true. We equallt agree on black left unity in majority, lastly that MK must take the KZN premiership, but they must be in the GNU as well to advance the RET agenda.
I did not listen to this full interview because I was not impressed by Matthews Phosa at all. He is still a typical ANC cadre, and you cannot expect of him to change his political philosophy by now. This election shows that Black people don't trust ANC anymore to get them out of poverty and care to the needs of freedom fighters. ANC should form a coalition with DA to try the free market economy and with MK to bring the freedom fighters back into ANC. Even if that means the resignation of Cyril Ramaphosa. Country first.
The time of one party policies is over. My concern here is however, all who oppose the DA within a coalition or GNU seem to be scared that their patronage network is exposed. When light is shon on supply chains within government, we will likely be shocked at the amount of money funneled away, even within functioning supply chains
45:52 It's always interesting with these discussions, where examples of other countries' fantastic growth rates of 5% and above annually are lauded and touted. Yet nothing is ever said of the environmental impact of that. India today is grappling with safe breathable air, for an example...

"There is a lot of international capital waiting to flow in..." we have to entice foreign foreign investors..." that's our biggest problem. The reason why we don't have our own capital is because we allow the status quo to continue, I.e. we allow our minerals to benefit foreign countries. Let's change the status quo, we have the numbers. The DA / National Party has to toe the line or go to elsewhere.
You actually can fund social spending without foreign capital, it's called modern monetary theory, spending on infrastructure doesn't cause inflation so there's no need to fear "printing money" when it's deployed correctly.

I said it again there is nothing wrong with the DA what is your problem with the DA come tell me the DA is on the right way and all of you cant like that thats why you want not the DA in the Parlement 🎉
Phosa keeps making excuses and his statements are not founded according to the facts with a growth of less than a half a percent where is all the investment
Mathew phosa was canvassing for ANC and we know you will complane
All of us are tax payers
eThekwini municipality is trying to steal from me
Mike Sham,😂😂😂 shame
When last have we heard the phrase Proudly South African
Rugby World Cups..
U can see apartheid in his face,if they want to go let them live, Africa for Africans
All I can say is :THANK YOU DR PHOSA. Someone expected you to say what they want to hear but you spoke your mind 💯 😂😂😂. I wonder if they will call you again 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️
His fighting for his tenders, afraid the DA will sniff them out. Just another looter.
Totally agree can't watch further.. .state of the nation's guests deteriorate every day
In 1994 it was asked of us "consider the markets and stability", we did, and we were rewarded with a long stable bout of poverty and worsening inequality in the most unequal nation in the universe.
That was not the market's fault. The majority supported and allowed the looting and the stealing.
@@WynandMeyering Thats not true, it was because of the end to apartheid, many companies returned to south Africa. SA was one of the top countries in the world. It had nothing to do with socialism if it did why did everyone leave when we become more socialist. its because companies and busiensses dont want that.
Thanks to the black party you choice when it came to vote, don't blame it on whites
No one asked Kweres😂
@@WynandMeyering Yes, and let companies produce. That is all capitalist. that will boost the country.
We agree with Commander Mathews Phosa, especially on the fact thst DA must be excluded on the Government on National Unity and we are absolutely unapologetic about that.
Remember, under his premiership of the Mpumalanga province, it was already being referred to as mamparalanga? The corruption in mpumalanga started under his watch. 👎🏼😠💩
Phosa cannot say a word this things happened under his noise now he wants to finger point else where
Is he the same person who had tendered his resignation
The time of one party policies is over. My concern here is however, all who oppose the DA within a coalition or GNU seem to be scared that their patronage network is exposed. When light is shon on supply chains within government, we will likely be shocked at the amount of money funneled away, even within functioning supply chains
45:52 It's always interesting with these discussions, where examples of other countries' fantastic growth rates of 5% and above annually are lauded and touted. Yet nothing is ever said of the environmental impact of that. India today is grappling with safe breathable air, for an example...
Mike is wortied about the material stabilty at expenses life of the masses
Are you saying the young people have not been left behind? Please don’t screw up this opportunity to move forward. Exclude the DA at your peril. The world is watching.
You actually can fund social spending without foreign capital, it's called modern monetary theory, spending on infrastructure doesn't cause inflation so there's no need to fear "printing money" when it's deployed correctly.
for the ANC to succeed there MUST be no more corruption; IS THIS POSSIBLE given that corruption in the ANC is a norm to their fabric????
Discussion like this just highlights that knowledge is power. The rebuttal from Dr Posa about making good comparisons and looking at things from other perspective were point on. Mr Pillay was strictly on being neutral as compared to the interviewer.
10:19 😂😂😂
"This nation was not born yesterday it was born 30 years ago"
This man thinks we're stupid and of selective memory😂
It was actually born in 1910 as the union of South Africa as independence from the British and Dutch colonial empire then rebirthed in 1994 as liberation and democracy from apartheid but the general behavior is as if South Africa was born yesterday.
You lack understanding in your listening. He is talking about the current nation.
@@sonofsoweto I'm well aware of that. Clearly like the majority of the nation you were born yesterday and not 30 years ago. I said South Africa started as the union in 1910 independent of Britain and Dutch colonials and rebirthed itself as a democracy liberated from apartheid in 1994 But if you can actually read and not take my full statement out of context you wouldn't dispute my statement. Clearly you weren't taught how to read and understand context. Pick up a book and learn how to read
The chaos of the ANC and the DA is equivalent and can be seen in what was happening during the taxi strike in the Western Cape. Understand I'm referring to the chaos and not implying ANC had anything to do with the strike.
